Here's a selection of some reviews about our food and drink by customers and the press:

" Stopped here randomly on the road from Richmond because I felt a bit peckish. It was Sunday so decided to have the Sunday lunch. It was delightful and had a large portion. Will definitely go back there next time I go to RIchmond. Good selection of real ales too. All round a lovely place to go. Would recommend to all Richmond visitors." -review by Chris H

" Four of us (two couples) ate here one Friday evening. The set up was professional but friendly, with orders taken and drinks served in the bar before being taken through to the dining room. Or perhaps dining hall, would be more accurate. We ate in January and it was very quiet, which was a shame - the place would have benefitted from a few more customers to generate a bit more atmosphere .

The food was hearty and very pleasant, everyone enjoyed their meal. I would particularly recommend the strawberry meringue dessert. The place offered good value for money and the staff were friendly." -review by Michael J

" I took my wife for a weekend break for a birthday treat in January.
We had a warm reception in the bar from both the staff and locals, where we enjoyed well kept traditional beer in front of a warm log fire
We dined in the restaurant on out first evening, the food was of a quality second to none, and the waitress was only too happy to help, and adjust the menu to suit my taste.

Our room overlooking the castle, was spotless and very comfortable.
We will definitely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone.

" My wife and I stayed at the Holly Hill Inn on Friday 28 December. We arrived early evening and were showed to our room which was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We then went to the bar where can can enjoy a drink sitting by a log fire and real ale to boot. We asked to see the menu and my wife chose the game pie, which was packed full of different types of game, and I chose the Pasta, which was plentifull and very tasty. I think that the menu is imaginative, unlike the previous review and would like to thank Jo, Emma and the Chef for their hospitality. We will certainly be back. " -review by Chris M

" Stayed here for New Year 31.12.11 whilst visiting some friends who were staying in holiday let close by. Loved it. We were very well looked after by Joanne and her team, from the minute we arrived until the minute we'd left. Joanne has been running the Holly Hill Inn since January 5th 2011 and is doing a first class job. Accommodation was v clean & tidy, and well maintained. Beer was good. Breakfast was excellent.

I recommend it, and will be visiting again. If you're doing the coast to coast, then this is a great place to rest & replace the calories & carbs." -review by Stuart W

" We were staying in Richmond overnight and decided to opt for the Holly Hill Inn, which was recommended by where we were staying. The pub was welcoming and offered a varied choice of food. The duck starter was very tender and came with a Chinese-influenced dressing which complimented it perfectly. For the main course we opted for pie, which was very tasty with excellent home-cooked chips. Bar also offered a choice of real ale and a fine selection of single malts, which we had to sample, of course! Also had wine with the meal, which was reasonably priced, and the staff were very friendly. Located slightly out of Richmond itself but definitely worth the walk. An uphill climb but great views of Richmond Castle on the way." -review by Martin W

" Stayed here whilst on business.
I was given a ground floor room which was huge! The room was clean and well-maintained, and (a major plus for me!), they always left 4 biscuits on the tea set (I find that most places only leave 2!).
The good was enjoyable; their full English breakfast lovely!
All the staff (and locals in the pub for that matter!) are friendly and welcoming.
If I were to take a break in this part of the world, I would choose to stay here!" -review by IT Travelling Guy
